The 500-room Holiday Inn City Centre in Chicago was purchased in January 2007 by The Chartres Lodging Group in a deal that gives Kokua Hospitality control of 1,300 rooms at three high-profile properties in the city's Magnificent Mile district. Upon acquisition, Kokua immediately rechristened the 26-floor property on East Ohio Street the Doubletree Chicago Magnificent Mile and launched a property-wide design change and repositioning that will ultimately involve a rebranding of the property into a DoubleTree® Hotel.
Elements of the project include:
- Repositioning and rebranding of the property into a DoubleTree Hotel, part of the Hilton® family.
- Extensive refurbishment of the lobby, public spaces and the hotel’s 17,000 square feet of convention and meeting space.
- Redesign and reappointment of all guest rooms and bathrooms.
- The debut of a signature three-meal restaurant adjacent to the lobby.
- Expansion and repositioning of the fitness center and pool to create a separate Sports Club identity.
